Client

Project goal

The main objective was to develop an intuitive application that simplifies the exchange of contact information and networking, helping users build and maintain professional relationships more effectively.

About the client

Spets Drom is a construction machinery rental service that connects customers with fleet owners and handles order management, paperwork and deal support.

What we did

App design
Mobile development (iOS, Android)
UX research
Maps & geolocation integration

Features

#01 NEARBY EQUIPMENT SEARCH

The app shows available machinery on a map around the site and tells the user how many units are nearby. Filters by equipment type, specifications and price make it easy to pick the right option quickly.

#02 ORDERS AND RENTAL CALENDAR

Customers pick dates in the calendar, place an order and track its status in the My Orders section. Active and completed orders are split into tabs so the full history is always at hand.

#03 FLEET MANAGEMENT FOR OWNERS

Lessors add machinery with photos and specifications, manage their fleet and accept requests directly in the app.

#04 CONTRACTS AND CLOSING DOCUMENTS

A registry of contracts and closing documents keeps everything accounting needs for every order — no paper trail or searching through email.

#05 PROFILE AND SUPPORT

Sign-in via Google or Telegram, profile editing and a support section where users can quickly ask a question about an order or documents.

Development process details

The project started with a deep dive into how machinery rental actually works: how customers search for excavators, cranes and dump trucks, how fleet owners accept requests, and how the parties exchange contracts and closing documents. Together with the Spets Drom team we mapped scenarios for both roles — customer and lessor — identified communication bottlenecks and built a screen map that ties equipment search, booking calendar and document flow into a single journey.

After the research phase, the project moved through several key stages:

  • UX design: prototypes of the equipment catalogue with filters, order cards, the rental date calendar and the Fleet section for machinery owners.
  • UI design and development of the mobile app for iOS and Android: nearby equipment search on a map, order placement, a registry of closing documents and contracts, and a support chat.
  • Map and geolocation integration, sign-in via Google and Telegram, and end-to-end testing of ordering and document acceptance flows before release to the app stores.

Design and interface

The interface is built on a strict black-and-white palette: a dark header with the logo, large black action buttons and light cards on a white background. The only colour accent comes from the machinery photos themselves, so yellow excavators and cranes stand out instantly in the catalogue and in orders. Filters are compact chips, the booking calendar and the map take the full screen, and order and fleet lists share the same card structure — so users can navigate the app quickly even on site, wearing gloves and in bright sunlight.

Unique solutions and innovations

Two roles in one app

Customers and fleet owners work in the same app with different flows: one needs search and ordering, the other — machinery and request management. A shared screen structure simplified both development and user onboarding.

1

Document flow inside the order

Contracts and closing documents are attached to a specific order and stored in a single registry, so both parties see the same set of documents at every stage of the deal.

2

Referral-driven growth

A built-in referral bonus programme encourages users to invite colleagues and contractors — according to the client, it increased new user acquisition by 50%.

Benefits for business and users

FAST EQUIPMENT SOURCING

Customers find the right machine near their site in minutes instead of spending a day calling contractors.

HIGHER FLEET UTILISATION

Machinery owners receive a steady flow of requests from the app and reduce idle time for their fleet.

PAPERWORK UNDER CONTROL

Contracts and closing documents live in one registry — fewer errors, disputes and lost paperwork.

Marketing support and promotion

The following solutions were implemented to increase conversion and attract new users:

  1. 1.
Referral programme:A referral bonus system that rewards users for invited contacts and increased new user acquisition by 50%.

Result

Within the first three months after launch, the app reached 30,000 downloads. Users report a high level of satisfaction with its functionality and ease of use. The referral bonus system increased the number of new users by 50%, and the customer retention rate for the first quarter was 75%.
