Project goal
We started by redesigning the customer account. Having earned the client's trust, we received a new assignment: developing the brand's mobile app.
About the client
Edem.rf is a Russian intercity travel and transport service. The platform connects drivers, passengers, carriers and cargo senders, helping them find each other and arrange a trip directly.
What we did
Features
#01 CAR RIDES
A passenger enters the origin, destination and date and sees matching drivers and ride companions for that day.
#02 BUS TRIPS
A dedicated section for finding intercity bus trips with the same simple flow: route, date, results.
#03 CARGO DELIVERY
Senders post cargo delivery requests, and carriers find suitable orders along their route.
#04 LISTING CREATION
A driver or carrier creates a listing in a few steps: route, vehicle, photos and trip conditions.
#05 ACCOUNT AND BALANCE
A user profile with vehicles, trip history and balance, plus precise selection of pickup and drop-off points on the map.
Development process details
The work began with an audit of the existing customer account: we mapped user scenarios, collected the pain points in the interface and studied how the service's customers search for ride companions, bus trips and cargo carriers. At the same time we analysed Edem.rf's business processes to understand which functions are critical for drivers, passengers and cargo senders. Based on the audit we drew up a product map and a development plan: first the redesigned customer account, then a full-fledged mobile app for the brand.
The team then moved through the key stages, gradually handing project management over to the client's product team:
- UX research and prototyping: user interviews and prototypes of the core scenarios, including searching for and creating a trip, buying a bus ticket and posting a cargo delivery request.
- Design and development: a shared design system for the customer account and the app, native screens for iOS and Android, and integration with the service's backend, maps and payment system.
- Testing and knowledge transfer: functional and UX testing of each release, documentation and regular sessions with the in-house team so it could continue developing the product on its own.
Design and interface
The interface sits on a clean white background with the brand's deep blue reserved for key actions, so the Search and Create Listing buttons stand out on every screen. The search forms for the car, bus and cargo sections are built from large From, To and Date fields, letting users find a trip in a couple of taps. Illustrations of a car, a bus and a truck make it easy to tell the sections apart, while softly rounded cards, calm typography and a clear bottom navigation keep the app light and predictable for a broad audience.
Unique solutions and innovations
THREE TRANSPORT TYPES IN ONE FLOW
Car rides, bus trips and cargo delivery share the same search and listing logic, so users never have to relearn the app when switching sections.
ONE SYSTEM FOR ACCOUNT AND APP
The redesigned customer account and the mobile app are built on a shared design system and shared data, giving users the same experience on any device.
GRADUAL PROJECT HANDOVER
Product management was transferred to the client's in-house team step by step, with documentation and knowledge-sharing sessions, so the app's growth no longer depends on outside contractors.

Benefits for business and users
FAST TRIP SEARCH
Users find a ride companion, a bus or a carrier in a couple of taps, without phone calls or messaging on third-party sites.
MORE ORDERS FOR DRIVERS
Drivers and carriers post listings directly in the app and receive orders along their route, filling empty seats and cargo space.
INDEPENDENT PRODUCT GROWTH
The business got more than an app: after the knowledge transfer, its own team keeps developing the product independently.
Result
Over five months of close, productive collaboration with the Edem.rf team, we went through every key stage of building the platform, from auditing the original solution to running UX research on our own work. We gradually handed project management over to the client's in-house product team while continuing to act as keepers of the project knowledge. Today the team independently carries on implementing the ideas we developed together and keeps growing the product.
